It’s the weekend. It’s time to play catch up again…
I’ve been reading Jonathan Dalton for awhile now. Who knows why I’ve yet to put him on the blogroll. Jonathan is another Phoenix area blogger (out of the Northwest side of town) who writes frequently, and writes very well. And he’s not afraid to tell you exactly what he thinks. Highly recommended…
Keeping with the Northwest theme, but this time speaking nationally, there’s the well known blog-goddess Marlow Harris. Running yet another Seattle area blog, Marlow has great insight into all things real estate, and more. In addition to her fabulous 360 Digest, she’s also running the lesser known (?) UnusualLife.com. It’s chocked full of great stuff on quirky architecture, which long time readers of my blog will know I’m fond of. Check out the latest entry, the Mexican Shell House.
Michael Price gives us Mike’s Corner Web 2.0 for Real Estate Pros. This one’s a gem, as Mike consistently finds wicked cool tech trinkets and freely shares them.
Jim Duncan’s RealCentralVA is quite simply a glaring omission from my blogroll. Out of my “hometown” of Charlottesville, VA (born there, left at the ripe old age of six months and only went back once as a kid to see the Monticello and drive by Martha Jefferson hospital to see the monument erected commemorating my birth) Jim covers EVERYTHING, not just Cville real estate. For example (and it’s just one of many). Actually, looks like I’ve lost my mind as Jim WAS already blogrolled. Oh well, I’m leaving this here as he’s worth an extra nod.
Tyler Sookochoff has something brewing called Livium. Sounds sorta social networkish. Sounds sorta cool. Phoenix agents should go to the blog and put in a plug for a Phoenix roll out. (Non-Phoenix agents can just back off!)
Just discovered today, Toby Boyce and Sadie Lynn (the Boxer. Of the dog variety) have a great thing going in Delaware (Ohio, not the state). Here’s a great example… It’s running on the GoDaddy blog platform ala TransparentRE. I’ll ATTEMPT a trackback, but we know how I am with those.
I know, I’m missing more. SPEAK UP, and I’ll add you…
EDITED TO ADD: Shannon Hubbard and her inspector husband Scott run the stellar BlogArizona. This blog has been around awhile, and if I had to pick a single blog that got me started in blogging, it’s probably BlogArizona (Thanks, I think!). It may be the single best source of Phoenix area real estate news. There’s a super article chocked full o’ links on the upcoming elections that every Arizonan should read. This one should have been the FIRST on the blogroll. Apologies for that omission!
Hi Jay-
I like the new blog…it looks great! How do you like TypePad? I see you've been busy in the blogosphere 🙂 Me…I've been slacking on my blog lately. I'm looking forward to the holiday slowdown and then a little better market in 2007. Take care!
Oops, I mean, how do you like WordPress? It's me that uses TypePad 🙂 And about trackbacks…nobody really uses them because nobody understands them – you are not alone!
Slowdown? We don't need no steenking slowdown. And for whatever reason the phones and e-mails have been busier lately that they have been for a while.
Jay, I've been debating something along the lines of the Rain City Guide but for Phoenix. We've got east and west covered … not sure if there's any merit and sure as heck don't know if there's any time.
Hey Jay,
Thanks for the kind words. Sometimes you think you're writing in a vacuum, so I appreciate acknowledgement. Unusual homes are a passion of mine, but most of my business comes from just regular houses, so it's fun for me to write about the eccentric and just plain strange.
I like the new look and will be a regular reader.
Thanks again!
Shannon – Howdy! Actually I've always run WordPress, I just recently switched themes as the one I had up forever didn't play well with WordPress 2.0. I'm a big WP fan. And I've humbly added BlogArizona to the blogroll here. It's basically your fault I got started in this blogging madness, you should have been on there from Day 1.
Marlow – you're more than welcome. I love your blog and UnusualLife is simply wonderful.
Jonathan – I don't know why your comments always wind up needing to be moderated. You're not a spammer in another life are you? 🙂
I too have often pondered a Phoenix version of Rain City Guide. Dustin, Ardell and company have pretty much set the standard for a collaborative blog, IMHO. The Seattle Post-Intelligencer also has one going. Not sure what it is with Seattle real estate blogs. Must be something in the rain…
As you point out, time would probably be the deciding factor. But it'd be fun to give the rainy people a run for their money….
Thanks for adding me to your blogroll, Jay. I'm re-doing my links because I realized that some of the blogs/sites I linked to a few years ago now suck! So I'm getting rid of some and breaking the others down into 'recommended blogs' and 'links' and maybe another category- haven't decided yet. Yours will definitely be under Recommended Blogs!
I set BlogArizona.com up with the intention of having multiple Contributors. But most Contributors who started out blogging ended up not blogging much. It was both a time thing plus the fact that not many people understood blogging back then (still don't, just know it's addictive!). I also have to admit that I myself go through phases of being 100% dedicated to blogging, then I get busy and am absent from the blogosphere for awhile! I still have 3 other Realtors that contribute to BlogArizona.com now and then, plus a mortgage guy, and my husband-the home inspector who rarely contributes now that he has his own blog! 🙂 I recently had a couple agents, a builder and someone from a title company contact me about contributing. But since it can be high maintenance, I started requiring that multiple posts be submitted in advance before I add someone as a Contributor. Guess it's a matter of finding dedicated Contributors, and like you both said already- time is definitely a factor. That's just my two, okay, four cents on the subject if anyone cares! By the way Jay, I love the way your blog turns my smiley faces into real smiley faces…very cool! 🙂
Thanks for the shout-out and of course you pick the sex blog to focus on.
Nice blog, I found it kinda funny! well hope to seem more blogs from you.
