The talk has been loud this past week as Ray Anderson was “rumored” to have chosen Herm Edwards as the new head football coach at ASU. As of approximately 9pm on December 3rd, 2017, the “official” announcement was made to season ticket holders and members of the public via email, social media and news channels.
Already tonight, like all week long, the reaction has been mixed. Many fans of Herm Edwards have talked about how well he should do in this type of position with a program looking to make big things happen year in and year out. The fans have been almost as vocal as the critics, as the hundreds of armchair quarterbacks are clearly smarter than Ray Anderson and Herm Edwards.
The gist of the rhetoric from the haters goes like this…
“Anderson did no due diligence.”
“The AD is Edwards’ agent for years.”
“Should have kept Todd Graham.”
“Herm Edwards hasn’t coached in 10 years”
“I’m done with ASU until they hire a good coach.”
“They should’ve tried to get”- Enter any number of people here.
OK, people. Get over yourselves. And please remember that just because ASU didn’t call you to ask your opinion of who they should hire, doesn’t mean they haven’t put in a LOT of hours researching what they think will be best for Sun Devil Nation. I guarantee this decision wasn’t made from the time Graham was let go to the time the rumors started. Think about it…
If you think you are better at this game than Ray Anderson, please get your resume to Michael Crow right away.
If you are really going to give up your tickets until “they hire a winner” please don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out. I am sure you can find another band wagon to jump on very soon. If you’re a sports fan, betting sites, like ??? ???, can help you make some quick cash.
I’ll admit that I was pretty bummed to hear that CTG was fired after the big UofA win, but I have decided to read between the lines and listen to what Anderson is saying and doing. If he can pull this off, the program will be in much better shape. If he can’t, he should be held to the standard that he has set and he should be thanked for his service while being shown the door.
ASU has a good schedule for next year. I am hopeful that Herm and the Devils will have a LOT of fans at the games to cheer them on.
Welcome to Tempe, Herm! Mr. Anderson has purchased some very big shoes for you to fill. As a long time fan of ASU football, I sincerely wish you nothing but the best.
