Where did The Reef Go?
The Reef was a staple bar in Uptown Chandler for a long time that had great lunch specials. I would often meet work associates and friends there to work over lunch and enjoy their wings and an adult beverage. They had these two long counters that were like theatre style bar seating; we would set up our laptops and work while enjoying what may be the best wings in Chandler.
Great wings, but who has the best coffee shops in Chander AZ?
I consider myself somewhat of a wing fanatic. I once entered a wing eating contest and won on my first attempt after eating 84 wings in 11 minutes. So yeah, I know my way around a chicken wing. Chandler has some really good buffalo wings. You can go to Sidelines, Teakwoods, HobNob and have some pretty amazing buffalo wings. Uptown Chandler also has ATL Wings, may consider the best wings in the Valley. For me, I have always liked ATL and HobNob wings, but The Reef had my favorite wings.
On many a Tuesday, you could see me sitting at one of those long counters with a friend or work colleague working away while enjoying .70cent wing day.
Then it happened. I had not been to The Reef in over a month, and a trip was long overdue. It was a Tuesday and someone I do some coaching with wanted to meet. As I had pulled into the parking lot on Warner, I noticed something; The Reef was gone. The Reef was no more. I had a hard time believing it.
New B2 Burgers and Brews Restaurant in Uptown Chandler
There has been a sign up for the last two months in the place The Reef used to be saying B2 Burgers and Brews is coming soon. While I am sure it won’t be The Reef, I will be posting a review when it does open. Then a couple of weeks ago I am heading north on Arizona Ave just past Warner, and I notice a new restaurant on the northeast corner just north of Dunkin’ Donuts. I stopped in to check it out. At the time there was no sign on the building so I really had no idea what I was walking into, but it looked like a bar or restaurant.
As soon as I walked in the side door on the right, I saw off-track betting area and then straight ahead I saw a sign that I recognized above a pool table. It was The Reef. They had not closed down for good, only for a few months until they could move to their new location.
The new location is different. It is not a dark hole-in-the-wall biker bar like it used to be, but a bright sports bar with televisions all around, the pool tables are back, and they have an outside misted seating area. The only thing missing was the old long counters to work at that I used to enjoy so much.
Also back are their $.70 wing Tuesdays and $1 taco Thursday. Welcome back Reef, Uptown Chandler was not the same without you. Now, off to get some great wings.
