September 11th, 2001. Many of us remember exactly where we were and exactly what we were doing when we heard the news of the horrific attacks on our country.
Here in Arizona, we are fortunate to have the “longest running Healing Field Memorial” in the nation held each year at Tempe Beach Park. The Exchange Club of Tempe works very hard to make sure this tradition carries on, and I am proud to be associated with the fine people at the Tempe Exchange Club.
Beginning Friday, September 9th, volunteers will pound nearly 3,000 pieces of rebar, will erect 3,000 eight-foot tall American Flags, we will put a personal bio card on each flag…and most importantly, we will honor those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. If you are interested in volunteering to set up or stand down the Healing Field, join us at 6am on the 9th or 6am on the 12th at Tempe Beach Park. Here’s a registration link for volunteers.
September will be here before we know it, and the event planners are in high gear getting things lined up for the 13th annual Healing Field in Tempe. While volunteers are typically plentiful and much appreciated, there is also a need for financial sponsors to help make the event possible. As a business owner, you have an opportunity to help support this awesome event AND to reach tens of thousands of attendees with a display ad in their program that is given to all attendees. The Healing Field is a FREE family-friendly event presented by the Exchange Club of Tempe along with the help of many awesome sponsors and volunteers from all over the valley.
Friday morning, Sept. 8th, 6:00am, Set Up Healing Field – Open to the public any time after 9:00am.
Open Friday, September 8th and each day through Sunday, September 11th.
Saturday evening, 9-10-16, 6:00pm – Freedom Concert, Free to all – Patriotic songs in the park.
Sunday morning, 9-11-16 – 5:46am Memorial Service begins. Sunday evening, 7:00pm – Candlelight Vigil.
Monday morning, 9-12-16, 6:00am – Stand Down Healing Field and store for next year. Volunteers welcome and appreciated.

Such an amazing and powerful event. I’ve helped set up (and stand down) the Healing Field several times. It’s a ton of hard work but such a gratifying experience to be part of an event like this.
