Some day, I will learn to not upgrade WordPress, the blog’s theme, AND tweak my CDN (Content Delivery Network) all at the same time”¦
That was a bad idea gone horribly wrong.
I have the place back in some semblance of order, though there is no question you will see wonkiness in various places, particularly with regard to navigation menus.
But the basic functionality is here. The CDN is non-functional so page load speed may be a little slow. I’ll redo all that”¦. later.
And I don’t even want to look at it on Internet Explorer. If you’re still using that piece of poo browser, download something else. Anything else.
It’s 2:36 am and I have exhausted my supply of curse words and beer. To top it all off, it’s now April 15th. My favorite day of the year….
Until tomorrow! Well, today.

Did the new WordPress comments have anything to do with blowing up the site?
Grant – not at all….
I have a tendency to do things to my wordpress sites that will also cause them to go haywire. Fortunately i’ve had to teach myself over the years to fix my mess-ups instead of hiring a freelancer at 3am.
Happens to me all the time Jay – I know enough about what I’m doing to be dangerous… I feel better now knowing I’m not alone. You know how misery likes company.:-)
That sucks-a-roos! Here’s to a speedy BLOG recovery. 🙂
I was in a GRI class Thursday and Friday, (Technology)Yesterday afternoon was all about websites, and your site is in the predetermined sites to pull up on the monitor! I was excited to see it and of course had to tell the class how I met you at the winter conference, and that you had been voted “Best Real estate blog” in PHX and that you were cool about sharing good website advice.
Painful.
Hey, I just noticed that the explosion shrank your site. It’s width is much smaller now. Maybe due to the radiation from the explosion.
I liked the widebody version better. Are you trying to make it fit onto something specific?
Hmmm… looks the same here width-wise Rob. The header graphic didn’t change, and that’s always been the width of the page. Any way you could send me a screen shot of what you’re seeing? [email protected]
Everything looks OK at my end Jay – even the width.
Jay – I’m finally getting use to chrome and definitely prefer it over internet explorer. Not sure if chorome is the best, but it’ll do for now. Knock on wood I haven’t blown up my site yet, but two of my friends have, one recently with the latest wordpres update and I feel for ya.
That is why I am afraid to press the WP update button!!
What about going on Twitter? I looked at search.twitter and I couldn’t find phoenix real estate guy or your name.
Vladimir – search.twitter is basically useless for finding specific people. Far better to Google something like “Jay Thompson twitter”.
I’ve bee on Twitter for quite some time.
Hi Jay – I visited last year and read all sorts of your stuff, then went off and tweaked my real estate blogs, and niche blogs and friends’ blogs and so on.
It is HARD to keep track of what’s been upgraded, and when, especially when someone reports that somethings is broken a few days later when I have long forgotten that I even touched something, much less WHAT.
About 6 months ago, I started logging updates and major mods in my Google Analytics log under the graph – the “add a notation” feature. It helps remind me what done been fixed that might not a been broken’, ya’ know?
Hi Jay,
This predates your current issues, but I’ve noticed your blog loads a little slower over the past month or so. I’m using an older version of Explorer. Still trying to train my self to click the firefox button rather than the IE. I’m only about 50% successful so far.
A couple extra seconds of load time is worth the wait for me, but I thought you might want to know.
No worries Jay. We learn by our mistakes and that’s the path of progress. Great blog by the way…
