It is the Soldier, not the minister
Who has given us freedom of religion.
It is the Soldier, not the reporter
Who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the Soldier, not the poet
Who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the Soldier, not the campus organizer
Who has given us freedom to protest.
It is the Soldier, not the lawyer
Who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the Soldier, not the politician
Who has given us the right to vote.
It is the Soldier who salutes the flag,
Who serves beneath the flag,
And whose coffin is draped by the flag,
Who allows the protester to burn the flag.

Execellent post- have a great holiday, Jay.
The writing of Fr. O'Brian is an excellent reminder in prose as the pictures reflect the horror of war continually faced by our soldiers face. So let us take time to honor and pray for our soliders past and present. Let us take time to give thanks to Almighty God for blessing America and enabling us – and the peoples of so many other countries – to enjoy the freedoms so selflessly earned by our soliders. Thank you for sharing.
update your wordpress, it's hackable.
Wow!! Great job Jay!!
I started a Memorial Day post yesterday – now, I think I'll just link to this. Beautiful – and my favorite Sarah song
