If either the Tempe Town Lake Festival or the Phoenix Freedom Wireless Fabulous Phoenix Fourth events are in your plan, consider taking the Metro Light Rail. Details on riding the the light rail to these and other events is here.
If you know of a fireworks show that isn’t listed, please leave a comment and I’ll add it to the list!
Freedom Wireless does a great job sponsoring the Phoenix show. It's a close call whether to stay on the beach in San Diego or head to Phoenix for the festivities!
I'd stay on the beach… 😉
Jay,
Although it isn't in the Valley, my personal favorite is the fireworks show in Payson. You get to sit on the green grass, listen to live music and watch the fireworks over the lake. When the sun goes down, the temperature takes a significant drop so you get to beat the heat.

It is only 76 miles north of Mesa but the weather is much nicer and you can still drive home after it is over.
I did this with the wife and kids a few years back, and I've always wanted to go back.
Thanks Steve! I'm going to add a section for "just out of town" events…
Apache Junction also does a spectacular show lasting between 30-45 minutes each year!

AJ High school football field
6-9pm Kid Zone
7-9pm live entertainment
9pm fireworks begin
Thanks Jessie! I've added AJ. We went there a couple of different years. It was indeed a great fireworks show!
Thanks for the info… I added them to a google maps.

Cool map!
This is a great list. Funny story, I flew all the way to Vegas one year from Bellingham Washington to watch the fireworks, well at that time nobody mentioned they didn't even have any fire works because it wasn't aloud on the strip. Still had fun anyway.
Looks like you guys are ready for one heck of a weekend! On our little island we'll have about 4 major fireworks displays that can be seen from the right spot. The Fourth of July tends to kick off the summer buying season in the Hilton Head real estate market. Have a great weekend, enjoy those fireworks and be safe!
Thanks for the summary. What is Independence Day without fireworks?
