I grew up right by Hohokam park in Mesa. We used to love Spring training – games were awesome; it always gave us something to do. I haven't been into it lately but may check it out this year. Thanks for the info
I envy you!
Hey Jay. I've always wanted to make it to a couple games in sunny Peoria, but have never made it down there. Given my march trip to southeast asia, I guess another year is going to pass, but hopefully next year I'll make it down.
That sure is a lot of teams. I know that a big part of it is weather, but your area must have a lot of good facilities.
I really wanted to get down there this year for spring training, but business is really picking up and I am short one team member as she just had a baby. Hope you have some time to take advantage of having so many games/teams to choose from.
"Long Days, Short Nights…Just Another Day in the Haven." – that was on the back of our t-shirts in 2002 (Indians).
Spring training is one of the best times of the year in Tucson for me. Hopefully we figure out a way to keep the Rockies so that it doesn"t dry up the Sox I think are moving to the PHX area in 2009.
Baseball is back! Who ya got this year Jay? I keep hearing a lot of preditions of Cubs/Indians in the Series, but man, wouldn't that mean the end of time or something catastrophic like that if those two teams made it?
My Astros look like a much improved OFFENSIVE team (they have really been bad with the bats the last few years) but now it looks like they have a one man rotation with Roy Oswalt as their only big starter!
Maybe they can convince Roger to give it one more go! Hahaha!
Ron the Cubs are looking good this year, at least on paper. That has been the case for multiple seasons now, but this might be the best in 20 years. While looking good on paper is great the Cubs need to stay healthy and find a way not to fold under pressure down the stretch.
Just hope that we aren't saying "There's always next year" come October. Our expectations are high this year!
Ron – I say keep an eye on our local Diamondbacks. They are young and hungry. They had flashes of brilliance last year and should be more consistent this year.
I've been a Roger Clemens fan since he pitched for UT….
And yes, I think there would be a serious disturbance in the nexus of the universe if both the Cubs and Indians made it! 🙂
I would love to see a D'Back/Indians World Series.
My first real pro uniform was that of the D'backs (working as an associate scout) and my first minor league uniform was that of the Indians.
I grew up in the Valley of the Sun and remember Spring Training in Scottsdale …wonder if the old Stadium is still there. Would love to make it back for a couple of games again someday. Thanks for the info!
I hope we can keep the teams in Tucson. I can’t wait for Spring Training to get here.
Arizona is taking all the fun of spring training from us Floridians. Can't blame the teams. The weather in Arizona really is better for baseball this time of year. Florida The Sunshine State???…look at the rain days, not even close. Hate to say it but Arizona is the place to be outdoors in the spring.
