Delightfully tacky yet refined real estate.
That’s what someone Googled today and found the Phoenix Real Estate Guy blog sitting in the #1 position. (it leads to the “Death of the Pink Flamingo” post from November 2006. Incidentally, it appears the kitschy lawn ornament is back in production).
It does make me wonder what exactly they were looking for. The searcher did spend 13 minutes here, most of it on the Phoenix MLS Search page.
With over 56,000 listed residential properties in Phoenix, it’s quite likely there are some that fit the search term.
Maybe we should change the tagline of our new brokerage from “The Power of Technology with a Personal Touch” to “Delightfully Tacky, Yet Refined””¦

[tags]Strange search terms, pink flamingos[/tags]
I'd be wondering why that person was searching for that too. That's strange, yet amusing. I see all kinds of random searches too. maybe they were searching for Hooters Restaurants for sale.
Most intriguing. You may just get a lot of traffic with the new tag line!
Those pink flamingo's are definately back in. I live in Florida and not sure they ever left. People love the pink flamingo, the dolphin, the manatee and have lawn ornaments with them.
One funny thing you can do is when someone has a birthday you can hire a company and they come put the birthday person age on a sign and that many flamingo's in the yard. Very funny to see 83 flamingos grazzing on a lawn.
It is amazing sometimes to see some of the search terms people find you with. I see some really bizarre ones occasionally when checking my GA.
On the bright side, they weren't searching for "demented and sad but social real estate".
Thanks Jason. Now that you've written that, we're showing up at #3 on Google for the search term, <a href="http://www.google.com/search?aq=f&complete=1&hl=en&q=demented+and+sad+but+social+real+estate&btnG=Search">"demented and sad but social real estate"… 😉
So, Jay… You are the Hooters of Real Estate now?
Hi Jay, honored to have you visit and comment on the Buzz. Canadians are buying in Arizona! All the best and I am just discovering some of your older posts and enjoying!
Jay,
I stop by every now and then, but have never commented (I don't know why I feel obligated to open with that). But as I am learning this wonderful world of blogging, it's amazing to me that a comment like Jason Brown's has that much power with search engines. It's a crazy blogging world we live in!
Lane – I really wasn't aware that the Hooter's slogan is "delightfully tacky yet UNrefined". Note though we are going for "refined". Guess I don't pay attention to the slogan when I visit the local Hooter's. For the wings. FOR THE WINGS!
Hilary – well thanks, and I'm honored to have you visit here. Yes, we have a LOT of Canadian buyers here! Closing on one today and showing with another this afternoon. I've got a picture of a Loonie somewhere on this blog. Several Canada related posts. We love our friends from the north!
Phil — I always wondered why people call into radio shows and say "Long time listener, first time caller"…. Don't be a stranger! Stop by more often! 🙂 And yes, it never ceases to amaze me how quickly something written here can be indexed in Google. I usually get a Google alert on a new post within 10 minutes. Comments sometimes seem to take a couple of hours.
I had no idea that was the Hooters slogan, but I looked it up and there it was. Then again, if someone was looking for Hooters, why not just type in Hooters? Maybe someone researching the origin of the slogan for a marketing class? Oh well, anyone looking for Hooters real estate will find this blog now.
I got a search for pretty houses in Austin. I wish in the mls their was a checkbox for "pretty".
