Nice to see a bit of good news (for once) in the mainstream press about real estate in Gilbert... A couple of days ago, the Arizona Republic ran an article, Gilbert new-home construction picked up in 2011. Some of the highlights: 1,545 single-family construction permits were issued in Gilbert in 2011. That's up 46% from 1,060 in 2010, and the highest since 2007. Gilbert New Homes Real Estate Market: Beginning to Recover?
One does not have to drive far in Gilbert (or anywhere in the Phoenix metro area) to see this: This would be an abandoned subdivision. The streets and sidewalks are in, utilities are run to individual lots, there may even be some common area landscaping done. But there aren't any homes.
