Unless you’ve been living under a rock the past several days weeks, you know that there was a wedding across the pond of royal proportions. We wish our best to the future King and Queen of England as they embark on their life journey together.
This little shindig has been all over the media, and I was curious as to what the royal wedding cost.
Bring emphasis to your table decor by utilizing CV Linens’ lavish selection of cheap cloth table runners, they are designed to be placed down in the middle of your table, to define your guest seating area as well as to create a stunning focal point to accentuate your centerpieces, table runners are an essential asset to tablescapes.
That of course, depends on your source, but numbers like 34 to 60 million dollars have been reported.
Let’s go with the low estimate. $34,000,000. That’s a lot of coin.
This got me to wondering, what could 34 million bucks get you in todays Phoenix real estate market?
How about the most expensive home currently listed in Phoenix? (Yes, that’s a photo of it at the top of this post.)
That would set you back $22 million. Leaving you with a tidy $12 million to throw a hell of a house warming party.
Too over the top for you?
Consider this. The average price of a home sold in the Phoenix area in the last 12 months is $165,109.
You could buy 206 average priced homes for the $34 million the royal wedding cost. Or buy 287 homes at the median price of $118.5K.
That’s a small subdivision”¦
Still, that seems a bit excessive. I mean really, who needs 206 homes?
Let’s take a look at the wedding dress the new Princess wore (technically, I think, she is now a Duchess). That apparently went for only $434,000.
There is currently one home listed in the Phoenix metro area for exactly $434K. A 3,800 square foot five bedroom home in Mesa, developed by Eliason Realty. It’s a lender owned property, but appears to be in great condition.
Don’t need five bedrooms and 3800 square feet? Why not trade in the royal wedding cakes? That cost was $80,000 ”“ for two cakes (roughly $134 per slice). There are 208 homes currently listed for sale at exactly the price of those two cakes. Of course you can’t eat a house, but still”¦
Finally, there is the wedding band Prince William gave Kate Middleton. The band mind you, not the engagement ring, cost $11,000. It is described as “a simple but elegant gold band”. For eleven grand, “simple” doesn’t seem to fit and it best be pretty freaking elegant!
And yes, there are homes available for sale in Phoenix for less than $11,000. They aren’t much, but try sleeping in a wedding band”¦.
