Imagine what your business would be like if you had hundreds of referral sources, scattered across the country, all recommending your name to people who are ready to buy a house – today. It would be amazing – a never-ending supply of well-qualified buyers, each asking if you can fit them into your busy schedule! (and if you can’t, I’m sure you could refer them out to another helpful agent in your office, who would gladly pay you a 25% fee for doing very little work.)
- Have we been in our current house long enough to sell it?
- What expenses should we keep track of so we can write them off?
- Are we allowed to cash in our retirement funds for a down payment? How much would the penalty be?
- What should we do with our 401k?
- Which funds / stocks should we sell for the down payment & moving expenses?
- How much down payment should we make?
- What would our mortgage payment be? How about our interest rate?
- How much will we get (net) from our house?
- What are the major repairs we should make before listing?
- How long will it take to sell? (which translates to “When can we buy a house in the new city?”)

I wish I could express to you how many times per week we reach out to agents in markets all across the country to assist our clients. We do short sales nationally which obviously means we deal with sellers. After a property closes, sellers move! We have a growing list of agents in markets all across the U.S. we recommend to our clients as they prepare to move out of their homes. Agents everywhere could grow their businesses more quickly if they follow your instructions. Great post, better advice.
